HARVESTING TECHNOLOGY: With extremely low loads the grapes have ripened optimally to produce a truly great wine, fermented traditionally in wooden fermentation container with standard manual punching the cap. Prolonged 40 day maceration enabled a perfect extraction of components from skins and seeds. In virgin filled french barrique oak barrels (225 L) the wine matured on yeast for another 24 months with the malolactic fermentation. Wine rested for 1 year after releasing.

NOSE: Very intensive fragrances; aromatic plants of garrigue (thyme, oregano, rosemary ...), red berries (strawberries and raspberries), black berries and really pleasant fragrance of black tobacco.
*garrigue – is a type of low, soft-leaved scrubland found on limestone soils around the Mediterranean Basin, generally near the seacoast, where the climate is *ameliorated, (oregano, thyme, ...)
PALATE: Unusually fresh for 2002 vintage, balanced, full body. Exceptionally long aftertaste. (enologist Claude Gros, Narbonne).
Refošk Antonius 2002 & FOOD: Matching strong dishes, based on red meat (bistecca alla fiorentina, lamb, pork, venison) with aromatic Mediterranean spices (thyme, oregano, rosemary, ...) or sharp spices ("green pepper", chilli ...). Refosco Antonius 2002 really matches poultry pâté (fois gras), mushrooms with strong aroma (boletus, chanterelle...) and truffles. Recommended also with aromatic cheese (goat, mouldy) and fruits of the fall (chestnut, zucchini). Perfect wine for a long and beautiful evening leaving memories.
